Yoga Pose by Pose

Yoga pose by pose classes are designed for beginners (those completely new to yoga). These classes are also suitable if your fitness level is poor, if you are returning to exercise after a break, or following recovery from an illness or injury. In Yoga Pose by Pose you learn to connect to your core, your breath, and your bandhas. You also learn how to position your joints to protect them during Yogasana (Yoga postures or exercises). For those who would like to move on, you can then practice and deepen your knowledge in Learn to Power Flow. Yoga Poses by Pose is suitable for all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. If on completion of 10-Yoga Pose by Pose you don’t want to move on, you don’t have to, you can stay as long as you would like. If you would like to move on to Learn to Power Flow but are not yet fit enough you might like to try Group Reformer classes. If you would prefer something gentler than Yoga Poses by Pose you might like to try Yin Yoga instead.

What will I learn about The Core Yoga Flow?

  • The English and Sanskrit names of The Core Yoga Flow
  • The anatomy of your core and breathing
  • Ideal posture
  • Functional shoulder movement
  • How to strengthen and protect wrists and and knees
  • Bending forwards and backwards safely
  • Contraindications – when a yoga pose might be unsafe

How will I remember what I learn?

  • Through persistence and a commitment to practice
  • You will get the best results if you commit to both a regular studio and home practice

Learn to Power Flow

Students who have completed 3-months of Beginners Pose by Pose and wish to attend Power Flow Classes must complete a minimum of 3-months of Learn to Power Flow Classes (experienced Yoga Practitioners who are new to Melton Yoga please call Caroline on 0403 822 446). Existing MY Students are welcome to attend Learn to Power Flow Classes too!

Are Learn to Power Flow Classes suitable for Me?

Learn to Power Flow Classes prepare students to attend Power Flow and are not suitable for students who have:

  • very low levels of fitness
  • significant health issues
  • severe joint restrictions that limit mobility
  • joint movement accompanied by pain
  • been advised not to exercise by their GP

If you fall into the above list Group Reformer, Gentle Slow Flow or Yin Yoga are suitable alternatives. Or contact Caroline to discuss whether Clinical Pilates or Therapeutic Yoga might be more appropriate for you.

What do Learn to Power Flow Classes Cover?

  • Learn to Power Flow Classes offer you the opportunity to practice, expand and refine what you learnt in Yoga Pose by Pose.
  • Surya Namaskar – The Core Yoga Flow as a Vinyasa (movement with breath)
  • The Core Yoga Poses
  • Pranayama and Bandhas
  • Mantra and Mudra
  • Meditation

What will I learn about the Core Yoga Poses?

  • The English and Sanskrit names of the Core Poses
  • Essential anatomy for Yoga
  • Correct alignment – how to position your joints to protect and strengthen them
  • Contraindications – when a yoga pose might be unsafe
  • The many and varied physical, mental and emotional benefits of the poses

How will I remember what I learn?

  • Through persistence and a commitment to practice
  • You will get the best results if you commit to both a regular studio and home practice

Learn to Power Flow Classes run:

  • Mondays 8:30 – 9:30pm
  • Tuesday 12:30 – 1:15pm
  • Thursdays 9:30 – 10:30AM
  • Come to class through our 7 Wallace Square entrance

Yoga Pose by Pose and Learn to Power Flow Classes cost:

  • $20.00 per-class if you pay casually (pay-as-you-go)
  • $16.50 per-class if you buy a 10-class pass (total $165)
  • Or buy a Multi Class Pass (3-months of unlimited classes) for $480 (attend 3 or more classes per week and save – can be used for Yoga, meditation, Group Reformer or yoga Wall classes)
  • Bookings are essential
